The weather was kind to those attending the opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on 9th November 2023. All seven branches of the Royal Sussex Regimental Association were represented with a Badged Cross, as well as an individual cross from Dr G. Day in memory of her father, with the inscription ‘Remember Sidi Omar’ a 1940 Western Desert battle against the Italians. The Field was opened by Her Majesty the Queen at 1100hrs and she visited every plot and chatted to the Plot Commanders. The RSX Plot Commander was Maj. B.K.E Lane MBE TD supported by Philip and Jennie Turner, and David Tilley. Although the Association no longer holds the afternoon ceremony it was a pleasure to see the Regiment represented.
