Bill Dixon

by | Jun 3, 2021 | News

On a beautify Sussex summers day in the garden of the George Inn at Eartham, Bill Dixon entertained his friends and fellow veterans on Tuesday 1st June 2021, a week before his 77th birthday. Suffering severely from Asbestosis, Bill wanted to gather his ex-colleagues together for a drink and a chat before his illness prevents him from doing so.

Initially 1st Royal Sussex and then 3 Queens, Bill saw service in Malta, Aden, Libya, Sinai, Cyprus, Gibraltar, and Germany. He also served with the Sultan of Oman’s forces.  Ending up at the School of Infantry in Warminster as a Colour Sergeant, he had been through the Chatham Pioneer course for carpentry and was battalion signwriter. He went on to handle explosives as an assault pioneer.

A charming and very affable man, Bill is one of those rare men who makes anyone feel comfortable in his company. We raise a glass to you Bill.
