Pte. Levi Sherwin Commemorated

Ten members of Chichester Branch were joined by the Association Chairman Barry Lane, and Trustee Alan Bernham-Parter at Singleton village cemetery on the One Hundredth anniversary of Pte. Sherwin’s death. The service was conducted by the Reverend Sarah Manouch in memory of Pte. Sherwin who died on the 31st July 1921 in the King George V Hospital Dublin after returning to the United Kingdom from service in India with the 1st Battalion Royal Sussex. He is believed to be the second to last serviceman from the regiment to die and be given a CWGC headstone. The last man is CSM Butcher who is buried in Brighton and Hove cemetery, and will be honoured by the Regimental Association on the 16th August this year.
